New turn in Noor Muqaddam murder case: Main Zahir Jaffar denies charges

Islamabad District and Sessions Court has reserved its verdict after hearing the arguments of all the lawyers in the Noor Muqadam murder case. The judicial remand of four accused, including the parents of accused Zahir Jaffer, has been extended.  

Judicial Magistrate Atta Rabbani at the District and Sessions Court, heard the bail pleas of CEO of Therapy Works, and five other accused in the Noor Muqaddam murder case.

Arguments of Therapy Works CEO Tahir Zahoor’s lawyer

Barrister Zafarullah, counsel for Therapy Works CEO Tahir Zahoor, appeared in the court and said that the name of his client has not been mentioned in the FIR but he has been arrested. My client’s work is therapy, he treat people.

Barrister Zafarullah said that Tahir Zahoor’s employees broke down the door and entered the house. The accused Zahir Jaffar killed Noor Muqaddam, then told his parents. The parents called the therapy workers to go there and see their son.

Noor Mukadam case: Police arrested parents, household staff of accused Zahir

 Barrister Zafarullah said the accused (his client) was accused of trying to hide evidence, while his client Tahir Zahoor was not present at the scene at the time of the incident. He is 73 years old. It is not a charge for the police to keep him in jail, my client is suffering from diabetes, heart and kidney diseases. 

Barrister Zafarullah, counsel for Dr Tahir Zahoor, said that there was no evidence against his client. One of the people sent from the Therapy Works was also injured.

 Arguments of injured Amjad’s lawyer

Accused Amjad’s lawyer Shehzad Qureshi said that Amjad’s medical report has been presented in court. He was the best witness in the case. The accused Zahir Zakir Jaffer stabbed Amjad and injured him. 

The accused Amjad’s lawyer Shehzad Qureshi said that his client was the ones who called the police, while 18 days after the incident he was made the accused. How could Amjad be injured if he destroyed the evidence?

His role will come to light during the investigation. It is requested that bail be granted. 

Arguments of Noor Muqaddam’s lawyer

Complainant’s counsel Shah Khawar argued before the court that call record and CCTV video record also came to light during the interrogation.

 Lawyer Shah Khawar said that the CEO of the Therapy Works had contacted the father of accused Zahir Jaffer. On the day of the incident, the father of accused Zahir Jaffar called the owner of Therapy Works.

The complainant’s lawyer said that when the employees of the Therapy Works reached the spot, Amjad was injured. Amjad was injured but he did not report the incident to the police.

 Lawyer Shah Khawar in his argument said that the people of the Therapy Works are being shown as if it is a rehabilitation center. First Amjad was taken to a private hospital, where they were told that it was police case. It is being taken as if the Therapy Works is rehabilitation center.

When Amjad was discharged from the hospital, the report of his surgery is not clear.

 Public Prosecutor’s Arguments

The public prosecutor said that Zakir Jaffer, the father of Zahir Jaffer, knew that the murder was taking place. The police rushed to the spot at the request of a neighbour. No one told the police on the call. He did not tell the police.

 The public prosecutor said that Dilip Kumar went to the hospital with the injured Amjad and Dilip Kumar told the hospital that there was a road accident. At 7 o’clock he found out that the murder was taking place but he did not tell the police and instead tried to destroy the evidence.

 The public prosecutor said that Zahir Jaffer’s parents had reached the spot from 7 to 9 pm but even then the police were not informed.

Court reserves verdict in Noor Muqadam murder case

After concluding the arguments of the parties, the court reserved the verdict in the Noor murder case and extended the judicial remand of four accused, including the parents of accused Zahir Jaffer, till September 6.

 Duty Judge Judicial Magistrate Maqsood Ahmed Anjum extended the judicial remand of the accused.
