Senate body on Human Rights briefed about Noor murder case

ISLAMABAD – Jul 25,2021- Police have arrested the parents of  the accused Zahir Jaffer, who allegedly murdered Noor Mukadam, for “hiding evidence and being complicit in the crime”, police said Sunday.

Police also arrested the household staff of Zahir Jaffer.

Police spokesperson in a statement said that accused Zahir’s father Zakir Jaffer, mother Asmat Adamjee and household staff Iftikhar and Jameel were included in the investigation based on the statement of the victim’s father, former ambassador Shaukat Ali Mukadam.

Duty Magistrate Shahzad Khan remanded the parents and household staff heard court for two days in police custody and instructed the police to present them in court on July 27.

Meanwhile, therapy clinic of the parents has also been sealed Deputy Commissioner Islamabad said on twitter.

A leading media outlet reports: A police official told the court that Noor had jumped from an air shaft in order to escape. “The household staff saw the suspect dragging the victim back into the house. If they had informed the police timely, the murder could have been stopped.”

On Saturday, Duty Magistrate Suhaib Bilal Ranjha extended Zahir’s physical remand for two days.

During the hearing, Investigating Officer Abdul Sattar informed the court the alleged killer, Zahir, tortured Noor with a knuckleduster before beheading her in the house.

Noor Mukadam, 28, daughter of Shaukat Mukadam a former ambassador, was found murdered at a residence in the capital on Tuesday.

The gruesome murder of Noor has sparked nationwide outrage in Pakistan, with thousands of people calling on the authorities for justice.
