KARACHI Nov 29,2021 – The Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University authorities have approached the Secretary Universities & Boards Department Government of Sindh for provision of the copy of judicial probe report of Nimerta Chandani death, as the university is under heavy pressure from media and social media regarding the death of Noshin Shah.

The Registrar of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University wrote a letter to the Secretary Universities & Boards Department to provide a copy of the report.

Nimrta was found dead in her hostel room on September 16, 2019. The Government of Sindh had appointed the District & Sessions Judge Larkana, Mr. Iqbal Hussain Maitlo, as an enquiry officer in 2019, to conduct judicial enquiry regarding the death of Ms Nimerta Chandani, a B.D.S Final year Student at Bibi Aseefa Dental College.

The District & Sessions Judge Larkana completed his judicial inquiry into the death of Ms Nimerta Chandani and submitted the same to the Home secretary in the end of Novermber 2019. The then Registrar Prof Shahida Inyat Magsi wrote a letter to the Secretary Home Department on January 2020. But it was not positively responded.

In his communication to the Secretary Registrar said, recent death incidence of Ms Nosheen, student of 4th Year MBBS Chandka Medical College Larkana, whose dead body was found in her room No.47, Girls Hostel, Chandka Medical College Larkana, which is being correlated with incidence of Ms Nimerta by electronic & social media, this all happens due to unavailability of judicial enquiry report of Ms Nimerta, conducted by the then the District and Session Judge Larkana.

The letter further said that and people are still considering university responsible for the incidence and we are unable to defend the university, due to unavailability of judicial enquiry report, which resulted to damage the reputation and image of one of the largest universities of Sindh, amongst the masses.

In absence of inquiry report SMBBMU authorities under heavy pressure from media

SMBBMU approached the Home Department, Government of Sindh through letter dated 16-01-2020 for provision of aforementioned judicial enquiry report but no any response is received as yet, the registrar said.

The university authorities said that university Is facing with multiple issues and problems after the death Incidence of  Ms Nimerta as there were several queries about the cause of said Incidence, which cannot be justified without provision of Judicial enquiry report of Ms Nimerta.

By keeping in view the legal right affirmed by the then District and session judge Larkana for provision of copy of Judicial Enquiry Report conducted by inquiry judge and in order to justify and elucidate different queries alleged on the part of university in the death matter of Ms Nimerta, and clear the misconception regarding correlation of recent death incidence of Ms. Nosheen with death incidence of Ms. Nimerta, there is immense need of copy of Judicial Enquiry Report in the death matter of Ms. Nimerta, conducted by the then District and Session judge Larkana.

Home Department, Government of Sindh may be approached for provision of aforementioned Judicial Enquiry report, at the earliest, in greater public interest and to restore the university image and reputation, the letter concluded.
