Corona package audit report reveals multi-billion rupees irregularities

 ISLAMABAD Nov 30,2021- More than Rs 25 billion irregularities have been detected in Corona packages handled through Benazir Income Support Program and Rs 4.80 billion in National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). 

The audit report of a package worth over Rs 354 billion during Corona has discovered several important revelations.

According to the audit report, in the package of more than Rs 354 billion, many irregularities in purchase were disclosed.

 Irregularities of more than Rs 25 billion have come to light in Benazir Income Support Program, the report said.

Relief to the people was delayed during the outbreak of COVID 19, along with mismanagement in the warehouse management.

 The report pointed out that payments of Rs 1.80 billion were made to those who were not entitled/ deserving.

According to the audit report, the government also made payments to government employees, pensioners and undeserving persons during Corona. 

The report further said, the government made payments of Rs 16 million to the tax filers while the money received for the 250-bed isolation hospital was not spent.

According to the audit report, a total of Rs 3.93 billion has been spent on procurement of sugar, ghee and flour for utility stores. 

According to the report, irregularities amounting to Rs 1.40 billion in procurement of sugar, Rs 1.60 billion in procurement of ghee and more than Rs 93.5 million in procurement of flour have come to light.
