Shehbaz Sharif’s name added to ECL

ISLAMABAD: President of Pakistan Muslim League –Nawaz  Shehbaz Sharif’s name has been put on the Exit Control List (ECL), it was officially announced.

In a statement on social networking site Twitter, Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry said that Shehbaz Sharif’s name has been included in the ECL after the approval of the cabinet and completion of legal formalities.

He said that the record regarding inclusion of Shehbaz Sharif in ECL has been updated.

PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif has decided to approach the Lahore High Court to stop him from going abroad.

According to sources, Shehbaz Sharif is likely to file a contempt of court petition.

The opposition leader’s name was already on the provisional national identification list (PNIL) meant to impose a temporary bar on someone to leave the country, according to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

On May 8, Shehbaz Sharif was not allowed to fly from the Lahore airport to the United Kingdom via Qatar after the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) allegedly placed his name on “another list”, preventing him from leaving the country.

On May 7, the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted Shehbaz conditional permission to travel abroad once for medical treatment.
