Shehbaz Sharif released for Kot Lakhpat Jail

LAHORE: PML-N president and leader of opposition Shehbaz Sharif has been released from Kot Lakhpat Jail on Friday.

A three-member bench of the Lahore High Court unanimously approved on Thursday his bail in the money laundering case.

The court ordered him to submit. On Friday, Muhammad Nawaz and Saiful Mulook Khokhar submitted the surity money.

Hamza and PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah received him.

On April 14, the court staff had announced “bail is allowed”, but Shehbaz could not be released due to a delay in the written order.

Justice Sardar Mohammad Sarfraz Dogar approved the bail, while Justice Asjad Javed Ghural wrote a dissenting note in the written verdict issued on April 17.

Justice Ghural accused his senior colleague of issuing a short order ‘unilaterally’. He remarked, “It is shocking for me to observe here that it has been mentioned in the beginning paragraph of the said order that unanimous order grant of bail to the petitioner was announced, which is against the ground reality.”

Later matter was referred to three member bench of LHC. The three-member bench of the Lahore High Court was headed by Justice Ali Baqir Najafi while the bench also included Justice Alia Neelam and Justice Shahbaz Rizvi granted him bail.

After his release Shehbaz Sharif called Nawaz Sharif and had a brief talk with elder broter who is in London.
