Pakistan’s emerging political scenario, Options and moves of  Govt, Opposition

May 17, 2021

With the end of the long holiday in the midst of the third corona wave, the political heat on the national horizon is beginning with renewed vigor.

People braved inflation during Holy month of Ramazan. The government did not reach to help them out. The government would like to sell its new product of electoral reforms, but it has a limited market.

In this disturbing environment, the existence and non-existence of the government seems to be the same. The continuity of power has become the first and last position.

Activating the opposition alliance PDM is also on political agenda, but no step is expected before final decision allowing or disallowing Shehbaz Sharif abroad.

Two fronts will heat up this week over the government’s action to stop PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif from going abroad for a medical check-up after being granted permission by the Lahore High Court.

National Assembly session to commence from today (Monday), there will be an attempt to take up the government’s initiative in the Parliament House.

Shehbaz Sharif’s going abroad politically matters for the government. It is more than so called accountability. So it is determined not to allow him to travel abroad.

PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has taken up the sensitive issue of water distribution and expressed concern that apart from the lower districts of Sindh, Karachi is facing difficulties in meeting its water needs. There is a definite reason for this. However, if the voices of protest are being raised from Sindh, it is a matter of great concern. If there is a shortage of water, then the condition of the bride and groom can lead to a new accident.

Like the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the government of Pakistan is indifferent to the ongoing atrocities against the Palestinian people and is failing to gauge the sentiments of the people.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is content with mere formal statements in this regard.

PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz came to the scene after a brief pause while addressing workers in Sheikhupura on Sunday.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz said if supremacy of the constitution and observance of law is treason, then we will commit this treason again and again.

The factory that distributes treason fatwas starts distributing certificates of treason when it starts losing elections.
