SALU board recommends 10 Ph. D and 136 M.S/M. Phil degrees

The Advance Studies & Research Board (ASRB) of Shah Abdul Latif University SALU recommended 10 Ph. D and 136 M.S/M. Phil degrees at its 68th meeting, presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto.

At the outset of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said we are committed to promote the quality research culture and innovation at this institution. He said, since my joining the office as Vice Chancellor, we have taken various drastic measures through consultation, feedback and coordination. Recently, with the dynamic approach of my team we have got approval from the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad regarding the halted programs for the Postgraduate Studies in various disciplines.

Dr. Ibupoto said research has great importance in the society because research has direct relation with the society and society is benefited in multilateral way.

The Members of ASRB commended the efforts of Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto in streamlining the institution in term of quality, transparency and merit.  They said that the Vice Chancellor is striving in right direction to make the Institution as a viable Institution.

Names of 8 Research Supervisors and Co-Supervisors for M.S, M. Phil and Ph. D were approved.

The meeting also approved 87 Research Synopsis.

10 Ph. D Degrees and 136 M.S/M. Phil Degrees were recommended to be awarded by the Academic Council.  The extension of research period of the 85 scholars was also approved by the ASRB.

Earlier, Prof. Dr. Iram Rani, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell briefed the house regarding the status of the various programs which were halted by the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad. She apprised that with the untiring efforts of Vice Chancellor, in view of the compliance report M.S, M. Phil and Ph. D Program were reviewed and revisited by HEC, Islamabad and were cleared from halted status.

The proceedings of the meeting were conducted by Dr. Naveed Ahmed Shaikh, Director Postgraduate Studies.
