Balochistan University closed for indefinite period after students protest

Balochistan University, Quetta has been closed, and all examinations starting from today i.e. Nov 11, have also been postponed.

According to the notification issued by the Registrar of Balochistan University, the university will remain closed from November 10 (Wednesday) till further orders due to unavoidable reasons while academic and administrative matters at the university will also remain suspended.

The students have staged a sit-in in front of the university to protest of the disappearance of two students from the university.

Sohail Baloch and Safi Baloch (Faseeh) went missing several days ago.

Students belonging to different factions of the Baloch Student Organisation locked gates of their university and announced that no student would take the semester examinations.

According to Samma TV the missing students hail from Noshki, a town located southwest of Quetta.

Balochistan Chief Minister, Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo has taken notice of the students’ protest and formed a three-member parliamentary committee to hold talks with the protesters.

Protesting students have also put up posters at the university gates to close the university.
