KARACHI: Chief Justice Sindh High Court (SHC) Ahmed Ali M Sheikh has ordered a judicial inquiry into the death of  Noshin Shah, an MBBS student of Chandka Medical College, district and session Judge Larkana will probe the case.

Chief Justice Sindh High Court Ahmed Ali M Sheikh has ordered judicial probe at the request of Sindh government and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana.

In an communication sent to Sessions Judge Larkana,

SSP Larkana has also been directed to co-operate fully in the investigation and present evidence to the Sessions Judge.

In the last week of November, 2021, body of Noshin was found hanging in her hostel’s room.

Noshin’s death: Asphyxia caused by hanging with rope, Preliminary autopsy report

Preliminary autopsy report of the tragic death of Chandka Medical College student, Noshin Kazmi has been issued. The initial post-mortem report stated that the cause of death of the student was Asphyxia.

Report said that Asphyxia caused by hanging with rope (ligature material) ante mortem in nature and sufficient to cause the death in ordinary course of nature.

Asphyxia is a condition arising when the body is deprived of oxygen, suffocation, causing unconsciousness or death.

No violence was reported on the student’s body. The samples of visra have been taken from body for toxicological, histopathological examination.

After final analysis of their chemistry and histopathology, final post-mortem report will be issued.

Chandka College and related institutions closed

Following the incident hostels were sealed and notification was issued by VC Anila Ata-ur-Rehman. Students were directed to vacate the hostels immediately.

.Institutions and hostels were closed for indefinite period and examinations were also postponed.

Initially Police in Larkana interrogated 19 students of Chandika Girls’ Hostel in Noshin case. No girl claimed to be her friend.

According to SSP Larkana, Imran Qureshi, Noshin Shah’s phone was sent for forensic examination, where in more than one SIMs were used. According to police, the deceased had made partition inside the student dormitory room, to separate from her roommate

According to the SSP, the teachers and classmates of Noshin Shah were also examined.

on September 16, 2019, Nimrta a medical student of the same university was found dead in her hostel room. The Government of Sindh had appointed the District & Sessions Judge Larkana, Mr. Iqbal Hussain Maitlo, as an enquiry officer in 2019, to conduct judicial enquiry regarding the death of Ms Nimerta Chandani, a B.D.S Final year Student at Bibi Aseefa Dental College. But this report was not provided to the university authorities.
