Support to Parliamentary Development delegation calls on Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Rehana Laghari

KARACHI: (June 17, 2021): European Union funded project “Support to Parliamentary Development in Pakistan” delegation headed by Christopher Shield called on Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Ms Rehana Laghari a her chamber in Sindh Assembly.

The delegation apprised Deputy Speaker Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Ms Rehana Laghari  that European Union had recently approved the project for members and staff of National and Provincial assemblies of Pakistan for enhancing legislation, effective oversight, budgetary and representation capacity by providing technical support, professional development, orientation programs and various intellectual and knowledge resources.

Ms Rehana Laghari assured the delegation of full cooperation and said that the leering sessions are mandatory for the development of members and staff of assembly for effective law making.

She said that the legislative process and the proceedings of the Assembly are the focus of world attention, and the members of the Assembly represent the laws by their intelligence and action. Members of Sindh Assembly are always interested in information and awareness programs and regularly participate in these informative programs and learn about the activities and history of various legislative assemblies of the world including the country. These programs not only restore the confidence of the members of the Assembly but also make it easier to overcome the obstacles in the legislative process.

She further said that Informative sessions and study tours of other assemblies are very important for the members of the Assembly as they include meetings with lawmakers, bureaucrats, social activists and other experienced people from all walks of life.

She concluded that strong liaison between the legislatures will make the legislative process easier and stronger and will help resolve mutual issues.

On this occasion, Financial Advisor of EU project Aizaz Asif and Deputy Director PIPS for Capacity Building were also present.
