KARACHI (May 31, 2021): The Sindh government has rejected the offer of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar on water issue.

The Punjab Chief Minister had invited members of the Sindh Assembly and experts on the water to visit Punjab, in the wake of water crisis.

Sindh irrigation Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal, responding to Usman Bazdar’s offer, said that Sindh Assembly members would not visit the Punjab barrages.

He said, “our protest and complaint on water issue is from Indus River System Authority (IRSA), we do not need to visit Punjab.”

Sohail Anwar Siyal also asked the Punjab Chief Minister to respond to the release of water in Chashma Jhelum Link Canal, TP Link Canal.

The provincial minister also offered a visit of Punjab experts to Sindh.

On the other hand, the Sindh Irrigation Department claimed that link canals were opened illegally in Punjab, causing a loss of 3 billion dollars to Sindh.

According to the Irrigation Department, Sindh was supposed to get 0.33 MAF of water this season while 0.30 MAF was given.
