Bilawal demands new accord for water distribution

Bilawal demands new agreement for water distribution

BADIN (May 26, 2021): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has demanded new agreement on fair and equitable distribution of water and said that there should be no politics on water, water distribution with justice. He added the federal government has no interest in solving the problems of Sindh.

Addressing a press conference at Bashir Ahmed Halepoto village of Badin district, the PPP chairman said that water problem is a problem of all of us, it is a problem of our future.

He added that the present government or the previous government has been doing injustice to the residents of the lower areas.

He further said that the Water Accord of 1991 was done by the then selected and illegitimate government, which was strongly opposed by the Pakistan People’s Party at that time, but now this agreement is not implementing it. We are braving double injustice. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that even if the representative of Sindh speaks in IRSA, he is attacked. When we talk about the rights of Sindh and Balochistan, the federal government launches a campaign against us.

He pointed out that the Sindh government has completed plans to pave canals and waterways to ensure water supply to the end of irrigation canals and more than Rs 7 billion are being spent for Badin district alone during the current financial year. This will solve the problems of lining of canals and LBOD. He added that he would not tolerate water theft in Sindh.

Meanwhile, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari offered condolences to newly elected Sindh Assembly members Dada Muhammad Halepoto and Shehzad Halepoto in Bashir Halepoto village.
