SHC seeks reply from Provincial Assembly for amending Sindh University  Act

KARACHI Aug 25,2021- Sindh High Court Karachi on Wednesday, has sought reply from the Sindh Assembly into a case of Sindh University Amendment Act 2018.

The court expressed its displeasure over the non-submission of reply by the provincial assembly.

The court adjourned the hearing till September 14, ordering submission of mandatory reply by the Sindh Assembly.

Petitioner Pasban was represented by lawyer Irfan Ghareez

The petitioner said that under constitution and law the Governor of Sindh has the power to appoint Vice Chancellor of Sindh University and added that it is illegal to give this power to the Chief Minister of Sindh by amending it through the Assembly.

The post of Chief Minister is political, and amendment is made for the appointment of people of one’s choice.

It may be recalled that the Sindh government has already submitted its reply in the case. 

Federal Urdu University

A petition has been filed against non-issuance of results in the matter of recruitment of teachers in Federal Urdu University.

The petition was filed by Imtiaz Ali Abro said that the Registrar of the university, issued an advertisement on June 11, 2017 and applications are invited for Grade 18 to 21 posts in the University.

On July 18, 2012, the petitioners appeared before the selection board.

The applicant was interviewed for the post of Assistant Professor of Law. Results of successful candidates is not declared as yet, the petition said.

The petitioner requested that the relevant authorities should be ordered to issue names of successful candidates.

The Chancellor Federal Urdu University of Arts Vice Chancellor, Selection Boards and Registrar Urdu University are also made parties in the petition.
