PTA probes internet slowness amidst disruptions in social media services
KARACHI, Sep 20,2022- It seems that the traditional Internet service in the world with heavy infrastructure is going to die.
Starlink, which provides Internet service through satellites, now claims to deliver high-speed Internet to any corner of the world’s seven continents through a single dish or antenna. The consumers will get rid of infrastructure like fiber and poles.
SpaceX and Tesla CEO and billionaire Elon Musk tweeted that Starlink is now active on all seven continents, including Antarctica.
StarLink is part of Elon Musk’s Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX), which aims to deliver high-speed broadband Internet to consumers via low-Earth orbit satellites.
According to the report, the National Science Foundation (NSF) has one of its Starlink Internet terminals at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, one of the most remote places on Earth.
The company said in a recent filing that it has launched nearly 3,000 small satellites into Earth orbit since 2018 and has served more than 400,000 customers for Internet service.
The company says it currently has 400,000 users in 36 countries, including both home and business users.

To provide this service, the companies will build a new network, which will be broadcast from StarLink’s satellites using T-Mobile’s mid-band spectrum across the country.
Its beta service will be launched in select regions by the end of next year.
Analysts say that the provision of Internet through satellites can solve the problem of access to remote areas of the world, deserts and mountains. Earlier this year, on January 19, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) issued a press release regarding Starlink, informing the public that Starlink, a satellite broadband provider, has decided to provide services in Pakistan. Therefore, neither has obtained any license from PTA nor has submitted any application for it.
