Governor seeks performance report of SZABUL
KARACHI, Jan 26,2022- Appointment of Rana Muhammad Shamim as Vice Chancellor Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law has been challenged in Sindh High Court.
The court sought arguments on the admissibility of the petition.
Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Shaikh observed that the court should be satisfied in the light of arguments. He asked whether Pakistan’s laws apply to Gilgit-Baltistan.
On September 03, 2019, Rana Muhammad Shamim assumed charge as Vice Chancellor of the SZAB University of Law for a period of four years.
The court adjourned further hearing till February 6.
Petitioner’s lawyer took plea that according to the law, an officer cannot hold any other post for two years after retirement. But Rana Muhammad Shamim has been appointed as Vice Chancellor, only after six months after his retirement.
Petitioner further said that Rana Muhammad Shamim himself fixed his salary at Rs 3.9 million.
IHC frames contempt of court charges against Rana Shamim
Rana Shamim has so far received benefits of over Rs 12 crore.
Petitioner said that Rana Muhammad Shamim should be removed from the post of Vice Chancellor and NAB should be ordered to investigate.
