Sukkur bench orders to add sections of underage marriage in case

SUKKUR: Sindh High Court Sukkur bench here on Tuesday has ordered to add sections against underage marriage in the case.

Sukkur Sindh High Court Sukkur Bench in an appeal for underage marriage has ordered that the case be re-investigated and sections for underage marriage be added. Justice Zulfiqar Ali Sangi’s court directed the Mithiani police to submit a report by including the provisions of child marriage in the FIR.

 It may be recalled that Anum Fatima was married to a man named Hussain Abbasi when she was 15 years old and according to the Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act 2013, a boy or a girl can get married after 18 years. 

Justice Zulfiqar Ali Sangi in his remarks said that the petition of plaintiff Munawar Ali should not have been rejected. Because the law prohibits underage marriage.

Lala M. Hassan Pathan Advocate appeared on behalf of the plaintiff who argued against underage marriage.
