Committee to probe allegations against Dr Shaista Abro

LARKANA Aug 24,2021- The Principal of Chandka Medical College (CMC), has constituted an inquiry committee to probe into the allegations against Dr Shaista Abro and the matter regarding the maltreatment of patient Asia Khokhar operated upon at Gynecology & Obstetrics Unit-III of Shaikh Zayed Women Hospital.

The committee be headed by Prof. Ali Akbar Bhand, Dean, Faculty  of Surgery and Allied Sciences, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University will probe the matter and fix responsibility.

The committee members included Prof Dr Safia Maqsood, Chairperson, Department of Gynae & Obs, Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College Sukkur and Dr Saeed Ahmed Memon, Additional Medical Superintendent, Chandka Hospital.

Two days back, doctors of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH), Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Pakistan Medical Association, and Young Doctors Association gathered at Auditorium Hall of the CMC held a general body meeting. Later, they staged a protest demonstration later against what they called blackmailing and extortion tactics by habitual blackmailers. Carrying placards in their hands, they shouted slogans in favour of their demands.

They said that a recent allegation had been levelled against Dr Shaista Abro, Incharge, Unit-III of Shaikh Zayed Women Hospital of conducting wrong operation of a patient Asia Khokhar who later died in Karachi hospital. They said that on her operation day, Dr. Shaista was not present in the hospital but the heirs of the deceased were naming Dr Abro and blaming her for death. They said the profession of doctors was prophetic and no doctor would think of negligence in treatment of a patient.

They said to redress the reservations of the relatives an inquiry committee can  be constituted to find the facts.

Meanwhile,  Dr Sajjan Khan Halepoto president, Dr Abdul Hameed Radhan senior vice president, Dr Saadullah Chachar vice president Dr Saleem Khoso and Dr Fozia Chandio joint secretary of the Young Consultants Association (YCA) Sindh has also expressed grave concern over the media trials, false allegations and propagandas against the healthcare providers and doctors.
