ISLAMABAD, April 4,2022- On the PPP’s request to form a full court bench in the hearing of the suo motu notice case on the no-confidence issue, the Chief Justice of Pakistan remarked that even if the Speaker cites Article 5, the no-confidence motion cannot be rejected.

A five-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan is hearing the case. The bench comprises Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, Justice Mazhar Alam, Justice Muneeb Akhtar and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan inquired whether the rolling procedure of the Deputy Speaker was a violation of the procedure or a violation of the Constitution.

PPP lawyer Farooq Naik said that all eyes are on the Supreme Court to decide the case today.

The Chief Justice remarked that efforts are being made to decide matter as soon as possible. The court will not take any decision in the air.
Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan said that he could not decide on important constitutional issues in a hurry after which further hearing was adjourned till tomorrow.

During the hearing, PTI lawyer Babar Awan came to the rostrum and argued that the presidential reference should be heard along with the existing sou moto.
