PTI nominates Justice (retd) Gulzar Ahmed for caretaker PM

ISLAMABAD, April 4,2022- Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has nominated former Chief Justice (retd) Gulzar Ahmed for the post of caretaker Prime Minister.

Former Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry released a message on the social networking website Twitter and said that the PTI has nominated Justice (retd) Gulzar Ahmed for the post of caretaker Prime Minister.

He said that after the approval of the core committee, the name of Justice (R) Gulzar Ahmed was suggested.

Fawad Chaudhry said that in response to the letter of the President, the Prime Minister suggested the name of caretaker Prime Minister.
Prime Minister’s House also confirmed

Meanwhile, a statement issued from the Prime Minister House said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had nominated Justice (retd) Gulzar Ahmed for the post of caretaker Prime Minister.

President Dr. Arif Alvi dissolved the National Assembly

The statement said that the Prime Minister suggested the name of Justice (Retd) Gulzar Ahmed in response to the letter of the President.

President’s letter to the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition

President Arif Ali had written a letter to Imran Khan and Shehbaz Sharif seeking appointment of caretaker Prime Minister.
The letter said that the assemblies have been dissolved under Article 58-1 of the Constitution. Imran Khan will remain in office till the appointment of caretaker Prime Minister under Article 224A.

The text of the letter said that the members of the committee would be nominated by the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition.

According to the rules, if there is no agreement on a single name within 3 days, both the personalities will send two names to the committee.

Shehbaz Sharif reacts

While reacting to the letter of President Dr Arif Alvi, PML-N President Shehbaz had said how to respond to the letter of the president who abrogated the constitution.
