KARACHI, April 5,2022- (Monitoring Desk) Sources said that Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser was not in favor of ruling under Article 5, even after trying to persuade the Prime Minister’s legal team, he did not go to the National Assembly on April 3 due to disagreement.

It is to be noted that while talking to Hamid Mir, the host of Geo News program Capital Talk, Attorney General Khalid Javed had said that according to the constitution, a no-confidence vote must be held on April 3.
According to Geo News, the reason given by Speaker Asad Qaiser for not chairing the National Assembly session on April 3 was that Asad Qaiser was not in favor of ruling under Article 5.

Deputy Speaker rejects no-confidence motion

On April 3, while presiding over an important session of the National Assembly, Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri rejected the no-confidence motion of the opposition against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri termed the no-confidence motion of united opposition as unconstitutional.
He said that no foreigner has the right to bring a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister.

The Deputy Speaker refused to vote on the no-confidence motion and adjourned the National Assembly indefinitely.
