Sindh to launch tree plantation campaign in 2nd week of July, Nasir Shah

KARACHI: Sindh will launch tree plantation campaign in 2nd week of July, Provincial Minister for Local Government, Information and Forests Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that tree plantation campaign has been finalized in all parts of Sindh during the monsoon season and more than 3 million saplings will be planted in this season.

While talking to a delegation of National Forum for Environment and Health he said “I will give priority to Urban Forest.”

The delegation included NFEH President Muhammad Naeem Qureshi, Vice President Engineer Nadeem Ashraf, Advisory Committee members and social figures Aman Pir and Muhammad Intisaruddin.

Nasir Shah said that urban forest should be given priority in major parks in Karachi, where small Miyawaki-style forests will be created.

He said that a meeting would be convened soon to involve citizens, corporate bodies and civil society in tree planting.

He further said that the cleaning work is being given to different companies which will improve the cleaning situation.
