MITHI, June 4,2022- Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah laid foundation stone of Thar Coal Block-1 scheme for supply of water from Nabisar to Wejhiar.
Thar coal Block-1 will generate 1650 MW electricity, Chief Minister Sindh said.
A 200 cusecs canal is being constructed from Farsh Regulator to Nabisar under this water scheme. Sindh Chief Minister said, out of 200 cusecs water of canal, 45 cusecs water will be given to private power company.
The Sindh government is launching this project under public-private partnership. Chief Minister Sindh said, the project is being carried out by the state-owned Kuwaiti company Intertech with the Sindh government.
The total cost of the project is Rs 182.350 million.
Agreement was signed with Kuwaiti company for water project from Nabisar to Wejhiar in June 2021.
The Kuwaiti company will lay a 45 cusec water pipeline of 60.7 km from Nabisar to Wejhiar.
A pond will be constructed in Nabisar for 45 days for storage of water, Chief Minister Sindh said, likewise a pond will be constructed in Wajihar for 30 days water storage, Chief Minister Sindh
A 4.8 MW power plant will be set up to pump 48 cusecs of water, Sindh Chief Minister said and added that two pumping stations of 60 cusecs will also be set up.
CM Sindh said, 41 cusecs wastewater treatment plant to be set up and a modern control system for the entire water supply will also be constructed.
Chief Minister Sindh said it is a success of Sindh government that an agreement was reached with Kuwait for such a big water project, Chief Minister Sindh.
This is the first water project of the country which is being constructed under PPP mode. The project will benefit the Sindh government to the tune of Rs 35 billion in the future, Chief Minister Sindh said.
