TANDO JAM Sep 27,2021- Vice Chancellor, Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri announced on Monday the establishment of an academic foundation of the university consisting of experienced and retired professors, to work as advisory body for development of academic and research work.
He also announced setting up an honorary corner in recognition of the services of teachers.
Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri was speaking at the Farewell Party hosted in honor of two retired teachers of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences – Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ismail Memon and Dr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Memon.
Dr. Marri said that there is no concept of professors’ retirement around the world and instead advantage is taken of their life experiences, but in our country, the concept of neglect arises after the retirement of a professor. “Therefore we are laying the foundation of Academic Foundation for the first time in the universities of Sindh and the services of on duty and retired professors in academic and research projects will be utilized jointly,” he said.
“After retirement, teachers should work in private or government institutions in their respective fields,” he viewed.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ismail Memon said that as a teacher in the university they had the opportunity to learn a lot. “This institution changed our life and I did as much work for the institution but even then a lot is to be done.”
Dr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Memon said that after the retirement of teachers, they should also be invited to all the activities taking place in the university and benefit from their experiences.
Dr. Azizullah Memon, Dr. Shams, Dr. Feroza Soomro and others addressed the event. Syed Ghiyas-ud-Din Shah Rashidi, Dean Dr. Qamar-ud-Din Chachar, Dean Dr. Naimatullah Leghari, Dean Dr. Jan Muhammad Marri, Academic Advisor to the Vice Chancellor Dr. Abdullah Arijo, and a large number of teachers participated.
