KARACHI Dec 19,2021- Sher Shah blast case has been registered against the owners of the building and those constructing illegal structures on the drain.

An explosion ripped through an underground sewer in Sher Shah area of ​​Karachi, destroying a private bank building and damaging surrounding buildings on Saturday noon.

According to DIG, South Zone Police, Sharjeel Kharal, FIR No. 449/21 has been lodged in Site B police station of Kemari district on the complaint of SHO Inspector Zawar Hussain.

According to the police, the case has been registered under PPC sections 322, 337, 427, 34, section 322 for murder under which those who construct illegally on the drain are nominated.

The accused are also alleged of causing financial loss to the citizens under Section 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to police sources, the FIR had sought to lodge complaint from the bank management but since these allegations could be leveled against the bank management during the investigation, the SHO has been made the plaintiff. It has been handed over to the police investigation department.

According to Inspector Zawar Hussain of Site B police station, 15 people were killed till the registration of the case but two more bodies were found after that.

In the Sher Shah blast incident 17 people were killed and 11 were injured. There have been other heavy financial losses.

The venue was owned by SITE Limited

Reports further said: The building that collapsed in the blast at Sher Shah was owned by Site Limited, not the site association, while Site Limited was also responsible for cleaning and maintenance of the drain.

Site Limited had allotted the drain site to 25 persons in 1964.

Site Limited is a subsidiary of the Department of Industries, Government of Sindh.

Meanwhile, Provincial Minister for Industry and Trade Jam Ikramullah Dharejo visited the site and formed a committee headed by MD Site Limited to find out the cause of the blast at Sher Shah Paracha Chowk.
