IHC grants bail to Shahbaz Gill

The District and Sessions Court Islamabad on Friday rejected the request of police for physical remand of Shahbaz Gill and sent him to jail on judicial remand.

Earlier, the District and Sessions Court Islamabad reserved its decision on the request of the police for the physical remand of Shahbaz Gill, which after some time, rejected the request of the police.

PTI leader Shahbaz Gill, who was arrested on charges of inciting sedition against institutions, was produced in the District and Sessions Court Islamabad.

Shahbaz Gill was produced in the court of Duty Magistrate Umar Shabbir on completion of 2-day physical remand.

Today the court directed the non-essential persons to leave the court room.

With permission of the court, the legal team met Shahbaz Gill in the court room.

Shahbaz Gill’s handcuffs were removed on the request of the lawyers.

Request for further physical remand of Shahbaz Gill

The police requested the court for further physical remand of Shehbaz Gill.

Shahbaz Gill whispered in the ear of Ali Nawaz Awan as soon as he reached the court room.

Shehbaz Gill’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry appealed to the PTI leaders to leave the court room.

The investigating officer while giving a statement in the court said that the CD of the (TV) program has been taken, the audio has been matched with Shahbaz Gill. One mobile was left in his car, the other was with him.

Advocate General Islamabad Jahangir Jadoon told the court that there was a transcript which was read, not telling who was behind it, a polygraphic test was to be conducted to see if Shahbaz Gill was telling the truth or lying.

He further said that Shahbaz Gill is not giving access to mobile and laptop, he has hidden the driver in Bani Gala, not telling who was behind him.

The prosecutor told the court that there was an attempt to incite various ranks within the army to revolt. The purpose of the interrogation of Shahbaz Gill is that we want to gather evidence, in the earlier remand we were saying whether his transcript was genuine or not.

Now we have to see who was the producer behind the program, my request is that Shahbaz Gill is a high profile accused, he has to undergo a polygraph test, give us four to five days to conduct a polygraph test from the Punjab Forensic Lab, we have also written to Pemra.
