Winter vacations in schools to be from Dec 25

ISLAMABAD: Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood has announced that the government has decided to close schools across the country from the first to the eighth grade till Eid-ul-Fitr due to fears of the spread of corona virus.

A meeting of inter-provincial education ministers presided over by Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood took this decision

In a statement released on Twitter, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said that the meeting decided to close schools across the country from the first to the eighth grade till Eid-ul-Fitr.

 He said that decisions was taken with consensus in the meeting.

According to the federal minister, it was decided that classes of IX to XII would be conducted in the affected districts on alternate day days.

He said that the purpose of conducting the classes was to enable the students to prepare for the board examinations. The examinations for class IX to XII would not be held before the last week of May.

Shafqat Mahmood said that new examination dates will be announced by the concerned boards.
