SC orders to provide venue for PTI public meeting

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the district administration to provide Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) public meeting place in the ground between H-9 and G-9.

Following assurances from the PTI leadership to hold a peaceful rally, the court directed the district administration to provide a venue for the rally.

The attorney general told the court that not more than 10,000 people could come there, there is the Sunday Bazaar and the Srinagar Highway.

Hearing the PTI’s request, Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan said that a plan should be drawn up for the protesters to come peacefully and return home after the protest, lest Faizabad or the motorway be closed after the rally.

The court directed that security arrangements be made for the PTI meeting at H9 public meeting place within three hours.

The court said that the court order can be changed at any time and the order can be withdrawn, the leadership of any political party will not be arrested, the arrested political leadership and workers should be released immediately.

The apex court said that the agreement reached in the PTI government for the JUI public meeting should be implemented, a new clause should be included in the agreement through mutual consultation and the court should also be informed.

The court said that the Home Ministry should refrain from unnecessary use of force and ensure a meeting between the Home Secretary, IG Islamabad and IG Punjab, DC Islamabad government and PTI.

The Supreme Court has ordered that the safe return of PTI committee members be ensured. The court expects the leadership of all political parties to instruct its workers to remain peaceful.

The court said that the PTI committee should ensure that no untoward incident takes place in the country, especially in Islamabad. The PTI committee should ensure that the property was not damaged.
