Project to build 50,000 flood-proof houses

KARACHI, 4,2022- With the technical assistance of NED University Karachi, plans have been made to construct 50,000 flood-proof houses.

Vice-Chancellor NED University Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi said that the technology to save houses from floods has developed, we have also prepared 50,000 earthquake-proof houses in Balochistan with the support of the government. For which NED University was awarded the highest award in Japan

Reports said that the federal government has decided to construct 50,000 flood-proof or flood resistance houses in the flood-affected areas across the country with the support of the Sindh government.

The NED University will provide technical expertise. Vice Chancellor of NED University, Dr. Sarosh Lodhi, said that he was asked by the Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, and the Ministry of Defense Production Lieutenant General Humayun Aziz.

57,496 houses were severely damaged or completely destroyed

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah told media that 10 million people have been displaced in Sindh and 57,496 houses were severely damaged or completely destroyed in heavy rains and floods.

According to Chairman NDMA due to floods and rains, 1.4 million houses were damaged due to floods.

According to preliminary data from provincial Education Departments, 18,590 schools have been damaged or destroyed as a result of the emergency: 15,842 in Sindh, 544 in Balochistan, 1,180 in Punjab and 1,024 in KP.
