Popular poet Suraj Sujawali dies while fighting corona

THATTA Aug 8,2021- Popular poet Suraj Sujawali died while fighting corona on Sunday at LUMHS Hospital in Jamshoro. He was 49.

Suraj Sujawali, son of renowned popular poet Sarwaich Sujawali was infected by Corona and was undergoing treatment at LUMHS Hospital in Jamshoro for several days where he succumbed to deadly virus.

He was known journalist, political and social leader

Suraj Sujawali was born on November 24, 1972 in the village of Ibrahim Tarro Survich Nagar near Sujawal.

Sarwaich was diehard Bhuttoist, so he named his son Zulfiqar Ali, who later was known as Suraj Sujawali.

He inherited politics from birth. He started his political career in 1984 from the student wing of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh Peoples Students Federation (SPSF).

Suraj was arrested with MPA Sassui Palijo while protesting against the imposition of emergency in the country by Musharraf on November 3, 2007.

Appreciating his sacrifices for the party, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appointed him as Information Secretary of PPP District Sujawal and Sindh Council Member in March 2017.

He is a beautiful poet and good compere and speaker.

With his poetry composing and speeches, Suraj was popular in public meetings of Thatta, Sujawal and tando Muhammad Khan.

He remained the liaison secretary of Sindhi Adabi Sangat Sujawal.

On the martyrdom of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, he wrote the longest poem on her. A collection of his poems “Still Sindh in black dress” has been published in 2011.
