ISLAMABAD, March 25,2022- The tumultuous session of the National Assembly, chaired by Speaker Asad Qaiser, was adjourned shortly afterwards, prompting strong reactions from opposition members.

Fateha was offered for the late members of the National Assembly, after which the Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser said that the agenda is shifted to the next day in honor of the death of the late member.

Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser further said that he would take action on the no-confidence motion in accordance with the constitution and law.

He also said that in past, the session has been adjourned 24 times on the death of any member, and it had also happened that the agenda has been postponed till the next day, due to death of a member.

Simultaneously, the Speaker National Assembly adjourned the sitting till 4 pm on Monday, March 28.

Opposition members chanted slogans and tried to speak on the microphone. However, the Speaker of the National Assembly did not allow the opposition leader to speak.

Bilawal and Shehbaz Sharif got stuck in the elevator

After the National Assembly session ended, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PML-N president, opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif got out of Parliament House and got stuck in an elevator.

After being trapped in the elevator, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif came out of the elevator.

Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reached the Opposition Leader’s Chamber where he met Shehbaz Sharif and consulted him on not taking up the no-confidence motion by the Speaker.

Who attended the meeting?

The National Assembly session was attended by among others, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, his father former president Asif Ali Zardari, PML-N president, opposition leader Mian Shehbaz Sharif, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and other MNAs.

 Government coalition GDA and BAP members Fehmida Mirza, Ghous Bakhsh Mahar, Khalid Magsi, Awami Democratic Party chief Nawabzada Shah Zain Bugti and others were present in the house.

On the other hand, Yousuf Raza Gilani and Sherry Rehman were present in the gallery of the National Assembly.

Agenda of the National Assembly session

The no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan has been signed by 147 members of the opposition in the 15-point agenda of the National Assembly.

Item 3 of the agenda included seeking permission from the House to move a no-confidence motion.

Item 4 of the agenda was resolution of no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The no-confidence motion states that the House is of the view that Prime Minister Imran Khan has lost the confidence of the House, he should be removed from office.
