Lawyers on strike against appointment of Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh as ad hoc judge

KARACHI Aug 17, 2021 – Lawyers are on strike against the appointment of Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Ahmed Ali Sheikh as an ad hoc judge in the Supreme Court.

President Sindh High Court Bar Association Salahuddin Ahmed said that the lawyers wanted the supremacy of the constitution and law. Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh could have been accepted if he had been appointed as a permanent judge.

Salahuddin Ahmed said that Chief Justice Sheikh has reached Sindh High Court and is in his chamber.

It should be noted that Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh was to take oath as an ad hoc judge in the Supreme Court at 9 o’clock.

The Sindh High Court Bar Association has called to observe a full day strike on Tuesday i.e. 17.08.2021 against “the unconstitutional Notification” dated 16.08.2021 whereby the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice Ahmed Ali M. Sheikh has been notified against his consent as an Ad-hoc Judge of the Supreme Court.

Honorary Secretary of SHCBA Muhammad Omer Soomro appealed the members to cooperate in this regard.
