Justice Shaikh not taking oath as ad hoc judge
KARACHI Aug 16, 2021- Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Mr Justice Ahmed Ali . M Shaikh will not take oath as ad hoc judge of the Supreme Court on Tuesday, August 17,2021 and have informed the chief Justice of Supreme Court through a letter accordingly.
A letter is circulating on the social media, said: the notification was issued inspite of the fact that I consistently and repeatedly declined to give my consent to attend the sittings of the Supreme Court as an ad hoc judge.
Justice Shaikh stated that therefore notification has been issued without lawful authority and has no legal effect.
It is further stated that he has decline verbally and through three letters dated 6, 7, 10 of August 2021.
Justice Shaikh stated that in view of the above, he will not the oath taking ceremony scheduled on August 17, 2021.
Meanwhile the Sindh High Court Bar Association has called to observe a FULL DAY STRIKE on Tuesday i.e. 17.08.2021 against “the unconstitutional Notification” dated 16.08.2021 whereby the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice Ahmed Ali M. Sheikh has been notified against his consent as an Ad-hoc Judge of the Supreme Court.
Honorary Secretary of SHCBA Muhammad Omer Soomro has appealed the members to cooperate in this regard.
