Larger bench of SC hearing election postponement case dissolved

ISLAMABAD, 30,2023- A larger bench of the Supreme Court, hearing cases against the postponement of elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was dissolved, when Justice Aminuddin Khan, who was part of the larger bench, declined to hear the case in view of the judgment passed by Justice Faiz Isa last night.

Today as 5-member bench came up for hearing in the Supreme Court, Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial said that Justice Aminuddin Khan wanted to say something.

Justice Aminuddin Khan said. “After yesterday’s judgement [of Justice Qazi Faez Isa], I recuse myself from hearing the case.” After saying this Justice Aminuddin Khan left the court room.

اNow new bench will be constituted in case against postponement of elections.

Tomorrow the case will be fixed before the bench without Justice Amin.

The hearing of the case against the postponement of Punjab elections was to be held today, which could not happen due to the dissolution of the large bench.

According to the court staff, the hearing of the case against the postponement of Punjab elections will be held tomorrow at 11.30 am, at which time the bench will come.

Who was included in the new bench?

Justice Aejaz al-Hassan, Justice Manib Akhtar, Justice Aminuddin Khan and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel were part of the larger bench.  But now Justice Amin has rescued himself. (Monitoring Desk)
