KP LB polls: PTI losing in many districts, JUI leading in 19 Tehsils

The ruling party PTI has been defeated in several places, with JUI-F leading 19 Tehsils in the first phase of elections in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa -KP local bodies elections.

Out of four major cities in three cities Peshawar, Bannu and Kohat, the JUI candidate is also ahead, while in Mardan the Awami National Party (ANP) is at the heading.

For the first time in KP municipal elections, PTI leads 15 Tehsils, Independent candidates 12 and Awami National Party leads in 8 Tehsils, Jamaat-e-Islami in 3, Muslim League-N and Tehreek-e-Iselah Pakistan in two Tehsils.

Zubair Ali of JUI-F has been at the top of the largest Mayor Peshawar competition, according to unofficial results of 285 polling stations, Zubair Ali has so far 32, 275 and his immediate rival PTI’s Rizwan Bungish received 26,695 votes.

JUI leads in Bannu City

JUI candidate Irfanullah Durrani leads Bannu City Mayor seat. PTI candidate Iqbal Khan Jadoon has 23,867 votes against Irfan Ullah’s 37,458 votes.

ANP Mayor in Mardan City Council

In the election of Mardan City Mayor, Allaah Mariyar with the support of the Awami National Party, has left behind the PTI, as the JUIF candidate is on second number. ANP backed candidate won the seat, according to the unofficial results.

Allah Mariyar took 56,458 votes and JUI-F’s Amanat Shah Haqqani was second with 49,938 votes.

JUI’s Co-opted Mayor Sher Zaman Kohat City Council

JUI’s Sher Zaman is ahead with its independent candidate Shafiullah Khan in Kohat City elections.

According to unofficial results, JUI-F candidate Sher Zaman has been elected mayor of the city council in Kohat.

Sher Zaman bagged 34,434 votes, while independent candidate Shafiullah Jan was second with 25,793 votes.

PTI leads in Buner district

PTI won 4 out of 6 tehsils of Buner district. PTI is also ahead in Khudukhel in Buner Tehsilwhile JUI-F is leading in all the three districts of Charsada.

 In Khyber District, Tehreek-e-Iselah Pakistan has the lead.

Atta Allah Khan of PTI has been elected in Swabi chairam Tehsil Council

JUI has gone ahead in Takht Bai, Tehsil Ketling and Tehsil Rustam of Mardan District. While ANP is ahead in Garhi Kapora Tehsil.

PPP accused of rigging in Peshawar

Mayor of Peoples Party has been accused of rigging in Mayor Peshawar elections, saying that the PTI candidate did not return the results in Form- 45 of 22 polling stations.

Election Commission says PPP request has been received, and matter is being investigated.

 

Suicide bombings and shootings kill six people

Suicide bombings and shootings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Council killed six people, including Village Council candidate Zakaria Khan.

 Police said Village Council winning JUI-F’s candidate Zakaria Khan in Peshawar died of his own aerial shootings over the joy of victory.

 Polls like battle field

During the tribal district Khyber Pakhtunkhwa elections, battlefields continued yesterday, with rocket attacks and firing, gunmen raided the polling station in Dara Adamkhel Tehsil, Kohat, while ballot boxes were set on fire while Zakhel and Landi Kotal polling. Armed assaults on stations, ballot boxes were smashed, mobs were stormed.

Fringing on Federal Minister Shibli Faraz took place,  in Dara Adamkhel on his was returning from Kohat. Some 45 people, who carried black flags, attacked the security car first, fired at the security car.

Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry also confirmed firing on Shibli Faraz’s car.

Police officials termed the incident as a result of the stone. According to the DIG Kohat, protesters opposed the FATA integration pelted stones on the federal minister’s vehicle.
