Karachi receives rain with strong winds, more expected today

KARACHI Sep 09,2021- Provincial capital Karachi, received rains with strong winds and thunderstorms last late night.

As soon as it started raining at night, power supply was also suspended in many areas of the city.

 Director Meteorological Department Sardar Sarfraz said that there is a possibility of rain with thunder in Karachi even today.

 He said that thunderstorms could start in the city this afternoon, which could lead to heavy rains in some places.

The Director Meteorological Department said that the whole of Sindh is in the grip of monsoon winds.

He said that rain is expected in Karachi city for the next two days (September 11). Two or three days ago, rain was forecast last night.

Sardar Sarfraz, director of the Meteorological Department, added that another spell of rain is expected after September 15 and 16.

 He also said that if 50 to 60 mm of rain falls in half an hour in Karachi and Hyderabad, there will be chaos.

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Karachi was recorded at 27 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature is expected to be 34 degrees Celsius.

 After one and a half hours of torrential rain in Karachi last night, most of the roads in Karachi were flooded.

Water accumulated in several areas including Napa Chowrangi, Safari Park, Surjani Town, Shahra-e-Faisal, Christian Cemetery, New Town, Liaquatabad Supermarket, Post Office, Johar Chowrangi, Ayesha Manzil, Garden.

After the rains in the city, KMC staff also mobilized and pumped water from under the Napa Bridge using a heavy pumping machine.
