‘Mastermind’ of KU suicide bombing remanded to police custody

KARACHI, April 27,2022- The family of the female suicide bomber confirmed that the footage showing was from their family who targeted the Chinese national in Karachi University on Tuesday.

Four people – three Chinese nationals and a Pakistani man – were killed in an attack by a female suicide bomber outside the Chinese language centre inside the Karachi University.

Worryingly, for the first time a woman was used by a terrorist group as a suicide bomber.

The BLA, while claiming responsibility for the attack through social media, also shared a picture of the purported female terrorist identified as Shari Baloch alias Bramsh.

Geo News reported that the female suicide bomber’s family was not aware of her activities in Karachi. The family of the suicide bomber confirmed the photo released by Majid Brigade. This woman is from our family.

Karachi police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon said that terrorist incident in Karachi University is tragic, BLA Majid Brigade used a student there to attack Karachi University and added that we had no reports of suicide attacks, especially by a woman.

According to the family the female suicide bomber had come to his sister’s wedding about a month and a half ago. She shifted to Karachi with her husband months ago, and was doing M.Phil while her doctor husband was doing a diploma. She was mother of two.

Other members of the family hold government positions, the reports added that the woman’s father having been the registrar of Balochistan University Turbat for some time, one of his brothers Tehsildar and one brother as deputy manager.

Bomb Disposal Squad report suggests that the three to four kilograms of high explosives with around one and a half kilograms of medium size steel ball bearings were used, adding that the suicide jacket or belt was exploded with the electric push button.

Some three suspects were also taken into custody from the University by the law enforcement agencies.

Mengal condemns suicide attack

Balochistan National Party (BNP) chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal has strongly condemned the suicide attack in Karachi University.

In a statement issued, he said that systematic violence against ordinary citizens cannot be justified.
