Conflicting statements on floods in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD jul 28,2021 – Conflicting statements by the administration over the flood situation in Islamabad have surfaced in the media.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, in a statement said that cloud burst caused the flood situation in federal capital. While the Meteorological Department termed the monsoon rains as the cause of the flood.

Hamza Shafakat, DC, Islamabad, said that because of the cloud burst in Islamabad, floods have occurred in different areas.

The meteorological department said that there was no cloudburst in Islamabad.

According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon has received heavy rainfall in Islamabad.

Islamabad has recorded the highest rainfall of 123 mm, Meteorological Department said.

It may be noted that torrential rains in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have created flood situation in many parts of the twin cities. Flooding relays in Sector E XI and D12 flooded several vehicles.
