UMERKOT May 13,2024: Health department of Umerkot district has advised the people of Umerkot district to start an awareness campaign to prevent malaria and follow precautionary measures.

On the special instructions of the Provincial Minister of Health, Dr. Ahzra Pechoho, Health Department, District Umerkot, Health Department Secretary Rehan Iqbal Baloch, DG Health Sindh Dr. Waqar Ahmed Memon  this campaign has been started through out Sindh province.

A whole week is being observed from 13th May to 17th May 2024 for awareness campaign to prevent malaria disease and to take preventive measures against malaria in the next season of malaria. In which the awareness campaign is being conducted in the schools, colleges, university as well as cities and villages of Umerkot district with the help of National Rural Support Programme( NRSP), PPHI, malaria department, in which the people of Umerkot district should take precautions to protect themselves from malaria.

By following the measures, use mosquito nets to protect yourself and your family members from mosquitoes, as well as put used car oil, white sand and dirt on standing water inside the house and in spas so that mosquitoes cannot stay there.

While sitting and sleeping in the room, put screens on the windows and doors, and outside the rooms, do not smoke while sitting and sleeping, especially from sunset to sunrise, and put mosquito nets over the beds and beds. Use mosquito repellent to prevent malaria. In addition to this, all people, especially women, innocent children and pregnant women, who have symptoms of fever and thirst should immediately undergo a free malaria check-up at our government hospitals.

DHO Umerkot Dr. Ahmad Ali Samejo further said that I will request all the relevant institutions of the district, especially the education department, NGOs and the journalist community, that they also cooperate with us in this campaign so that the people can be saved from malaria. He said that in total 87 hospitals in Umerkot district have been given free facilities for checking and treating malaria, including 67 Government and 20 Private Hospitals, in which all the facilities are available. People should benefit from it and also fully cooperate with our teams so that we can make this campaign successful. Focal Person Malaria Dr. Afzal Kanbhar Focal Person VBD Dr. Eser Das, Taluka Health Officer, Ali Nawaz Rahimon District Coordinator, and others were also present on the occasion.
