Chinese company express interest in investing in mineral sector in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, May 17,2024:  Chinese delegation has met Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, during which the Chinese company has expressed interest in increasing investment in mineral and mining  sector in Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif invited the Chinese company to invest in the mineral sector from mining to manufacturing of export goods.

The delegation, while giving a briefing on the construction of mineral park in Pakistan, also informed about the further investment plan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that steps are being taken on priority basis to increase foreign investment.

He said that China is a long-time friend of Pakistan and an important partner in development, China has helped Pakistan in every bad time, for which the whole nation, including me, is grateful.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that to increase Pakistan’s exports, other investments related to mineral extraction and processing will be fully facilitated.

He directed the concerned federal ministers and officers to consult with the Chinese company.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also instructed to include Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and relevant institutions and stakeholders of the province in the consultation process.

Pakistan has also offered US to invest in mineral sector
Two months ago, Pakistan invited the US to explore investment opportunities in the mineral sector.

American Ambassador Donald Bloom met Federal Minister Petroleum Mossadegh Malik, in which matters of mutual interest were discussed.

According to the statement, the American Ambassador congratulated Dr. Mossadegh Malik on his assumption of office, the American Ambassador emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries to address common challenges.

Mossadegh Malik said that there are opportunities in Pakistan for exploration of energy sector, minerals, oil and gas, the federal minister also invited the American companies to find investment opportunities in the mineral sector.

According to the statement, technology transfer and capacity building in the energy sector were discussed between the two countries, renewable energy promotion was also discussed in the meeting.

Federal Minister Mossadegh Malik highlighted Pakistan’s relations with America, the American ambassador said that high-level economic dialogues will be held in Washington, energy issues including minerals will be discussed in the talks.
