Askari Park hand over to KMC: Apex court orders
KARACHI, Dec 27,2021- The apex court directed the Administrator KMC to take back the Askari Park within two weeks, take over the management of the park, remove the wedding hall building there, use the park for the public and no charges should be levied from the public.
A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed on Monday, heard the case related to Askari Park at the Supreme Court Karachi Registry.
The court asked the KMC Administrator to inform the court regarding Askari Park, to which the Administrator said that the report has been filed, an agreement was reached in 2005. The Defense counsel told the court that it was a 99-year agreement.
The Chief Justice remarked that the park was given to him so that no one else could occupy it. Justice Qazi Amin said that you people are scarifying lives for the country and we appreciate it.
The Chief Justice while talking to the lawyer said that the report which was withdrawn by the Secretary of Defense is being re-presented by you. You yourself admitted that the marriage hall was operating, 38 shops have been built in your presence, and the Defense’s lawyer said that we have nothing to do with it.
Lt. Col. Zubair presented the report in the court, stating that it has nothing to do with the shops built on the land of Askari Park.
Justice Qazi Amin said that we are ordering you to return the park land.

The Supreme Court directed the Administrator Karachi to take over the management of KMC Park and the park should be used for the public, no charges should be levied from the public in this regard. The shops built on the land should also be demolished.
The Chief Justice said that Askari Park should be handed over to KMC within two weeks, swings etc. should be installed by KMC, previous one should be returned to them.
