ISLAMABAD, March 9,2024: Following his defeat in the presidential election, Mahmood Khan Achakzai has commended the fairness of the electoral process, highlighting a significant departure from past practices of vote buying and selling.

Speaking to the media outside Parliament, Achakzai expressed satisfaction with the absence of corrupt practices in the election, hailing it as the dawn of a new era in Pakistani politics. He emphasized the importance of upholding such positive traditions in parliamentary proceedings.

Achakzai noted the irony of receiving all votes from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly while not securing a single vote from his own province’s assembly. He lamented the loss of a potential vote from Dr. Abdul Malik, who had initially pledged his support but later withdrew. Despite this setback, Achakzai expressed gratitude to PTI for nominating him as a presidential candidate and acknowledged the support received from various allies.

Reflecting on the broader political landscape, Achakzai underscored the need for unity and collaboration among political parties, advocating for mutual respect and adherence to constitutional principles. He criticized attempts to undermine the rights of women and minorities in the allocation of elected seats, calling for a fair and transparent distribution process.

In conclusion, Achakzai reaffirmed his commitment to parliamentary democracy, asserting his willingness to make sacrifices for the greater good of the nation while urging all parties to work together for the betterment of Pakistan.
