Transporters insist immediate opening of bus-stands in main city area

KARACHI Aug 22,2021 –  Transporters insist immediate opening of bus-stands in main city area. Transporters have threatened to take action, if inter-provincial transport was not restored. This was observed at a meeting of transporters held here on Sunday.

They said due to closure of public transport stands in city the buses for inter-provincial and various cities of Sindh province from Karachi, are not being allowed inside Karachi, hence thousands of people, transporters and thousands of families associated with the sector are facing severe difficulties.

Keeping in view all these difficulties, transport bases should be restored immediately, they demanded.

Sindh Govt endorses Inter-Provincial transport ban

Transporters said that bus stands were closed 16 months ago to prevent possible spread of Corona, and the transporters cooperated fully with the concerned agencies and the Sindh government.

The participants of the meeting agreed that if transporters were allowed to open the bases, all the SOs announced by the government would be taken into account.

Transporters said that they are not being allowed to enter Karachi in Saddar, Cant Station, MA Jinnah Road, Patel Para, Qayyumabad, Lea Market and other areas which are causing severe difficulties.

They said the Transport Minister had assured that the bus stands will be opened by Monday, August 23. If not implemented today, they will announce future course of action in the next meeting.
