ANKRA Aug 23,2021 – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that his country cannot bear the burden of Afghan refugees at the request of the European Union.

President Erdogan said member states have opened their doors to the small group of people who worked for them.

He said that Turkey should not be expected to take over the responsibility of third country, adding that Turkey was already hosting 500,000 refugees.

 Meanwhile, the Afghan Taliban have once again urged citizens not to leave the country.

The Afghan Taliban commander addressed evacuees at the Kabul airport.

In his speech, the Taliban commander urged Afghans trying to leave the country to stay.

OIC meeting on Saudi Arabia request

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held an emergency meeting in Jeddah to consider the situation in Afghanistan, calling on the international community to help Afghanistan.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation also supported talks in Afghanistan. 

The OIC Secretary General called on international financial institutions to take steps to address the problems of IDPs in Afghanistan. The Afghan leadership and the international community must not allow Afghanistan to become a haven for terrorists again.

It should be noted that the meeting was held at the request of Saudi Arabia.  

Taliban send fighters to Panjsher valley

In Afghanistan, the Taliban decided to take control of Panjshir, the last center of resistance. Fears of war erupted between the Afghan Taliban and Ahmad Massoud, who sent hundreds of fighters to Panjshir.

The Taliban had given Ahmad Masood a few hours to hand over the Panjsher Valley.
