KARACHI: Sindh government has started providing kitchen garden kits free of cost to poor farmers to meet the economic and food shortage.

Provincial Agriculture Minister Ismail Rahoo said that in the first phase, 1500 kitchen garden kits will be distributed among poor farmers and deserving women in Tharparkar.

In other districts, 4,700 kitchen garden kits have been provided to poor farmers and deserving women. He said that 10100 kitchen garden kits are being provided under a scheme of the agriculture department.

The agriculture department has launched the kitchen garden project to address the economic and food shortages in the province.

The Minister said that before providing kitchen garden kits, a survey of poor and deserving women is conducted by various NGOs. Seeds of two seasons and fertilizer are also provided free of cost.
