KARACHI: As many as two more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 4,523 and 314 new cases emerged when 8,448 tests were conducted.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Friday, said that two more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 4,523 that constituted 1.7 percent death rate.

Murad Ali Shah said that 8,448 samples were tested which detected 314 cases that constituted 3.7 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 3,378,701 tests have been conducted against which 268,283 cases were diagnosed, of them 96 percent or 257,593 patients have recovered, including 271 overnight.

The CM said that currently 6,167 patients were under treatment, of them 5,525 were in home isolation, 12 at isolation centers and 330 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 303 patients was stated to be critical, including 38 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 314 new cases, 165 have been detected from Karachi. East 76, South 47, Central 21, Malir nine, West eight and Korangi four.

While other district-wise statistics are as follows, Hyderabad has 26, Sukkur 16, Sujawal 10, Matiari and Thatta seven each, Badin, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Qamber, Kashmore, Sanghar, Shikarpur and Tando Allahyar five each, Dadu, Khairpur, Naushero Feroze and Umerkot four each, Tando Muhammad Khan three, Jamshoro one.
