Voters are queuing in the scorching heat at polling stations for local body elections  in 14 districts of Sindh.

Polling for the first phase of local body polls in Sindh started at 8 am, will continue till 5 pm without any break. In 14 districts, in which more than 21,000 candidates are contesting.

Polling stations have been bustling since early morning, with women, the elderly and the young arriving to cast their ballots.

A clash took place between PTI and PTI activists after reported stamping the ballot papers in Bhiriya Town, district Benazirabad.

Armed men held hostage the polling staff in Kandhkot.

In some places, voters are worried about not being named in the voter lists.

Benazirabad: Arrest order for accused of snatching election material

Election Commission of Pakistan has taken notice of snatching of election material at three polling stations in Benazirabad.

The ECP directed the Deputy Commissioner and the District Returning Officer to take immediate action in this regard.

Sindh Local body elections: 946 candidates elected unopposed

According to the spokesperson, the Election Commission has ordered the arrest of the accused involved in the incident.

Protest over wrong election symbol, polling stopped

In Nawabshah, a protest was staged at Nadir Shah Dispensary polling station on the wrong election symbol.

Polling has been suspended after protests by TLP candidate Abdul Sattar Malik and voters.

TLP candidate Abdul Sattar Malik said that instead of his crane mark, a picture of the queen has been printed on the ballot paper.

TLP candidate Abdul Sattar Malik was allotted the crane mark on Nawabshah’s Union Committee-6.

Nawabshah: Independent candidate also complained of printing wrong marks

In Nawabshah, Rashid Ali, an independent candidate from Union Council 3, Ward 3, while protesting against the presiding officer, said that he was allotted the election symbol fan while the ballot paper was lock.

He said that the Election Commission has taken notice of the complaint of printing of wrong election symbol on the ballot paper and the Assistant Returning Officer has reached the polling station.

Voting on the seat of General Counsel in this constituency has been stopped. A report in this regard will be sent to the Election Commission.

Delay in polling at Khairpur polling station

Polling was delayed at polling station No. 33 in Ward No. 16 of Khairpur.

According to the polling agents, there is a problem of serial numbers of ballot papers given in the said polling station. Serial numbers of several ballot papers are missing.

Polling agents of all political parties did not allow to start polling due to this issue.

A large number of voters have arrived at this polling station who are worried about the situation in the queue in the scorching heat.

Khairpur recorded a temperature of 47 degrees Celsius today.

During the local elections in Sindh, some interesting scenes are being witnessed.. In Dad Laghari district Ghotki, provincial minister Bari Pitafi and his brother’s GDA leader, Halal Pitafi emerged candidates against each other.

GDA Leader Raja Khan Mahar and his cousin PPP MPA Mohammad Bakhsh Mahar also brought candidates against each other.
