Two Retired Army officers sentenced to imprisonment for “inciting sedition”

ISLAMABAD, Nov 25,2023: Two retired officers of Pakistan Army Adil Farooq Raja and Haider Raza Mehdi were sentenced to imprisonment for “inciting sedition”.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Army, the two retired army officers were convicted by a Field General Court Martial “under the Pakistan Army Act, 1952 for the charges of inciting sedition among army personnel from discharge of duties and violation of the provisions of Official Secrets Act, 1923 related to espionage and acts prejudicial to the safety and interest of the state”.

As punishment, the ranks of both the officers have been forfeited from November 21, 2023.

It has been told that Major (Rtd) Adil Raja has been sentenced to 14 years of hard labor.

According to ISPR, Captain (retd) Haider Raza Mehdi has been sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment.
