Thari workers rally in Karachi, demands arrest of accused in Shahid Rahimoo murder case
KARACHI, Dec 26,2021: A large number of Thari workers staged demonstration outside press club here on Sunday demanding justice in murder case of Thari worker Shahid Rahimoo,
On December 08, a young worker hailing from Thar was killed in the DHA area of Karachi. An FIR (536/2021) was lodged against Shaikh Abdul Wajid and his son Shaikh Ali Wajid at Gizri police station.
Speakers addressing the rally said so far Police has not arrested the accused as well as not taken effective measures in for fair investigation of case.
Arbab Ayaz Rahimoo urged the authorities to take an immediate notice because unrest among the Thari workers is increasing and if Police fails to bring the culprits to court of law then the protest level will be increased including blocking the Thar Coal road.
Abdul Waheed Rahimoo, Coordinator of Thar Mazdoor Itehad said that in past more than ten cases of killing Thari youth occurred in Karachi and this seems a calculated move to depress and deprive Thari youth from creating space and finding jobs in Karachi.
He further said that the accused party was issuing threats to complainant and there is no one to take notice, this is pity situation and we demand the arrest of nominated persons and Police should conduct fair inquiry.
Thar Mazdoor Itehad Karachi is a platform on which, we strive to create enabling environment for finding jobs for youth in Karachi as well as facilitate them in case they face any issue, he added.
Thar had been suffering due to droughts and having low opportunities of employment, Thari youth comes to Karachi but such incidents creating obstacles and barriers, so Law enforcement agencies, Court of Law and Human Rights Organizations are requested to take the notice of this injustice.

The protesters chanted slogans against the Sindh Police and demanded fair investigation otherwise level of protest will be increased including blocking the Thar Coal road till the arrest of accused.
