Decisions challenged in the courts, hinders development process: Murtaza Wahab

KARACHI Sep 27,2021- Sindh Government has released a large development fund for Karachi. The Sindh Finance Department has released Rs 1638.184 million.

The Finance Department, of Sindh Government has informed the Municipal Commissioner, KMC about this decision.

There is no precedent in the recent past that two releases have been issued simultaneously. The credit goes to Murtaza Wahab who is Administrator of Karachi. A quarterly release was also delayed.

The Sindh government has given these funds for ongoing schemes this year. However, sources said that KMC has no mechanism currently in place for payments to contractors.

Reports said a cold war has erupted between both the financial advisor and the director general of technical services over who will distribute the funds.

But both are awaiting the administrator’s directives. Sources say that in the past, contractors have been pointing fingers at pay issues and the contractors themselves have been complaining.

This time there is a strong possibility that Administrator Murtaza Wahab, who has a good reputation, will not allow the officers to join any commission or any other practice and will allow the money released by the government to be spent on as many public projects as possible.
